Iran–Pakistan Economic Opportunities Discussed at Karachi Conference

Karachi January 31 2025 — Senior officials and business leaders from Iran and Pakistan gathered in Karachi for a high-level economic forum aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment. The event hosted by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) brought together provincial authorities chamber representatives and trade professionals focused on Iran–Pakistan economic cooperation.

The forum featured keynote speeches by Gholamhossein Mozaffari, Governor of Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Province; Hassan Nourian, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi; Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the FPCCI; and Mohammad Reza Tavakkolizadeh, President of the Mashhad Chamber of Commerce.

Speakers addressed both the opportunities and challenges facing bilateral trade, calling for greater synergy in key sectors including energy, transportation, tourism, and cross-border commerce. The event underscored the shared desire to strengthen economic ties at the provincial and national levels.

In his remarks, Consul General Hassan Nourian stressed Iran’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation through public diplomacy and economic outreach. “The Islamic Republic of Iran places special emphasis on its neighbors and is eager to deepen trade relations with friendly nations, especially Pakistan,” he said.

Highlighting recent progress, Nourian referred to several initiatives aimed at facilitating trade between the two countries, including signed agreements between the Iran Chamber of Commerce and the FPCCI to establish a Joint Business Council and a Commercial Dispute Arbitration Committee.

The gathering in Karachi marked a significant step in ongoing efforts to activate the full potential of Iran–Pakistan trade, particularly by connecting economic actors in Iran’s northeastern Khorasan Razavi province with counterparts in Pakistan’s Sindh region.
