Visit of a Parliamentary Delegation from the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly to Karachi

A delegation from the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly arrived in Karachi on January 18 2025.

In this regard, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, Speaker of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, met with the Iranian parliamentary delegation and Hassan Nourian, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the Iranian Consulate in Karachi. The meeting was attended by Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohammad Mirzaei, representative of Shahin Dezh and Takab and head of the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, as well as several Pakistani political figures, including Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, member of Pakistan’s National Assembly; Anthony Naveed, Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Provincial Assembly; Waqar Mehdi, Secretary-General of the Pakistan People's Party; and a number of Iranian diplomats.

The Speaker of the Sindh Assembly expressed confidence in the growing bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan across economic, political, cultural, and people-to-people domains. He emphasized the need to leverage the capacities of the two countries’ parliaments and to increase the exchange of parliamentary delegations to further enhance these ties. He extended an independent invitation to the Islamic Consultative Assembly to send a delegation to Karachi and expressed his readiness to engage in constructive dialogue with the Iranian parliamentary delegation to help remove obstacles and advance shared goals and cooperation in various fields.

The parlimantary delegation also visit to the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay tribute to the late founder of Pakistan, and a meeting with intellectuals and cultural figures at the Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi.
