Isfahan Crowned as the Tourism Capital of Asian Cities 2025
The metropolis of Isfahan with its unique blend of historical charm and modern attractions has been selected by the Asian Mayors Forum as the “Tourism Capital of Asian Cities 2025” from among 40 participating cities. Around eight cities were nominated for this prestigious title with Isfahan ultimately earning the honor.
The Asian Mayors Forum is an international, non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting relations and cooperation among mayors and urban managers across Asia. Currently, more than 120 cities from 39 countries are members, ranging from small towns and capitals to major metropolitan areas.
The Forum, which includes most of Asia’s largest cities, operates six committees focused on smart and innovative cities, public participation, livability and resilience, environment, urban economy, and culture and tourism. Its secretariat is based in Tehran.
Isfahan Province, with over 22,000 historical sites (including 1,940 nationally registered landmarks and 15 UNESCO World Heritage sites), more than 600 historic houses, as well as diverse natural, cultural, religious, and recreational attractions, is recognized as one of Iran’s premier tourism hubs.
