Yalda night celebrated at Iran Consulate in Karachi
On the occasion of Yalda night a special program titled quotThe Glory of Iran and Pakistanquot hosted by the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic Iran in Karachi in collaboration with one of the institutions active in the field of skills development of Pakistani women with the presence of H.E. Kamran Khan Tesoori the Governor of Sindh and other diplomats from Iraq Sri Lanka Afghanistan Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates were held at the Iran Consulate in Karachi.
The Governor attended the Yalda Night and the event titled “The Glory of Iran and Pakistan Traditions” as the Chief Guest. Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hasan Nourian, during his speech emphasizing the cultural roots between the people of the two countries, considered the Yalda night to be one of those cultural elements that are useful and effective for bringing the family members of the society closer to each other. Considering the coincidence of this event with the birth of Hazrat Zahra and Women's Day in Iran, Hassan Nourian mentioned that the celebration honors the status and character of women, and to renew the covenant with the Prophet Muhammad's thoughts and manners about women. He also pointed out some of the characteristics of that Hazrat as a model of a Muslim woman.
Other speakers of this ceremony also emphasized the convergence and common roots of the two countries on this longest night of the year. In this program, about a hundred active Pakistani female chefs competed in three categories: food, dessert and cake.
In his address, Governor Sindh emphasized the deep cultural ties and geographical proximity between Pakistan and Iran. He commended the efforts of the Iranian Consul General in strengthening bilateral relations. The Governor also presented Culinary and Hospitality Awards to those who showed outstanding performance in various categories during the event.
