Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah meets with Iranian Consul General, Hassan Nourian at CM House
Consul General of the I.R.Iran, H.E. Hassan Nourian and his accompanying delegation consisting of officials from the political and consular sectors met H.E. Seyyed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh.
In this meeting, H.E. Zia Hasan Lanjar, the Sindh Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Memon, additional Secretary of Home Department, Mr. Faiz Hussain Shah, Prosecutor General of Sindh, were also presented. The parties exchanged the list of prisoners and sentenced to imprisonment in Iran and Pakistan and agreed to speed up the process of bilateral cooperation.
Hassan Nourian mentioned the agreements between the two countries regarding transfer of convicts (ratified in 2016) to discuss essential actions regarding the transfer of Iranian prisoners from Sindh’s jails under the bilateral agreement between Pakistan and Iran.
Earlier last year, seven Iranian prisoners were released from the Karachi prison in November and were flown to their country with the support of the Iranian Consulate General.
The release of Iranians was the result of constant follow-up of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karachi and in line with the protection of the rights of Iranians living abroad.
